From the phenomenon of roadkill; to the rapid turnover rate of outdated technologies; to the endangered species of canada; to the slices of cold cuts in your sandwich; to the deer heads hanging in the hunter's den; to the raccoon bandits rummaging through your garbage bins - My artistic practice has been concerned with exploring the way in which human beings perceive, depict, transform, and destroy the natural world and its non-human inhabitants. I am particularly interested in visually expressing the wastefulness and dangers of our hyper-consumeristic mode of living by juxtaposing assortments of non-human creatures with discarded, residual, humanmade technologies. As such, I have found that I am a redundant arguer continuously seeking new ways to express that humanity’s self-important parade of (a narrowly defined) progress and the stubborn determination to erode and mutate all that is natural is absurd. By emphasizing the disconnect between human beings and non-human creatures through the medium of art-making I hope to create another local catalyst of discussion regarding the way we think about and interact with the world around us.
